Schlong

So here’s something that gripes me a bit. I hope I don’t step on anyone’s toes, or other parts! Here’s the thing. Why is it that guys seem to think that when they take a picture of themselves, they have to have the schlong profile?

Schlong

When women share their picture, it is usually something nice. It might be them walking in the woods or in a field. We don’t have spread-eagle genitalia shots. That is usually for a different kind of website!

Here’s a picture of us.

no schlong

Just happy people.

Guys, on the other hand, seem to feel the need to prove that they have not been emasculated. In fact, sometimes we even get to see that said appendage is functional, or at least partly so.

Now I have no problem with the human body. I can view male and female forms in a nudist club, a private gathering, or online and not be offended or shocked. What I have a problem with is the obvious sexualization of male nude pictures.

Come on! nudism/naturism is supposed to be about a healthy attitude about the human body. These pictures that only show the body between the knees and bellybutton on a man are for strictly prurient reasons. How about we drop the sleeze factor a few notches?

Let me know what you think!

Yep you nailed it pretty good. A very high percentage of so-called male nudist have the proverbial look at me shot with the penis being basically the focal point. As nudist Kim and I don’t mind seeing a penis, it’s just part of the enjoyment of being a nudist. However when you make it appear that’s all you’ve got going for you it’s a very sad statement! And we agree, give us pics that show one going through daily routines instead of the here it is pic !!!

  2. Happy Bare says:

Yes, you are correct. Far too many penis centered photos. It’s actually kind of dull, any no one pays a whole lot of attention. For nudism or naturism, naked photos should be in some context both for men and for women. A wiener fest is not all that interesting, unless you are barbequing.

  3. Some men seem to have the (mistaken) idea that everyone else is as interested in looking at penises as they are. As mentioned by Sassycoupleok, the pity is that’s all they think they have going for them, and it probably is!

Those guys that post pictures of their “schlongs” are NOT real nudists or naturists. Their fixation on that body part sadly causes more damage and misconception by the general public. Yes, the nudity is wonderful. But it’s the ENTIRE body!! Shame on them for posting under “Nudist” or “Naturist”. What they really are is “Pervert”.

Where is your focus guys? important thing to ponder

There’s really only one reason that people post their penises like this: they are exhibitionists and not nudists… They want their junk to be seen but not their body or faces. It’s not about body acceptance, it’s about voyeurism and exhibitionism.

Let me turn that question around… Why are a woman’s breasts the center of focus when a woman is in the picture? Answer: Because a woman’s breasts are the most obvious indicator that she is a woman, and are her most obvious part. Even a small amount of pubic hair can completely hide a woman’s lady-parts, whereas no amount of hair can hide a man’s penis. A man’s penis is the visible indicator that he is a man.

A head-shot proves nothing, when it comes to showing that a person is a nudist, whereas a full-frontal shot leaves no doubt.

I agree. What I object to is the blatant showing of the genital region with no other part really presented. I wouldn’t like a “Hustler” shot of a female either. I have no problem with any body part showing. I am a nudist after all. It’s the deliberate penis shot that I have a difficult time with.

It’s a valid point – but the truth is average young to middle-aged men have at least ten times the blood level of physiologically active testosterone that average adult females have, and are consequently sexually highly charged up – and that’s most probably why the custom of covering the genitals became widespread in all settled cultures, to try and keep the sexual angle out of everyday interactions involving men.

The human penis is larger than it strictly needs to be in order to introduce semen into the female reproductive tract, and unlike a great many other mammals, it does not retract into the body when not being used sexually. Anthropologists think this is so because at an instinctual level the penis is a ‘badge of office’ – its constant presence and size are specifically to impress other males. So unfortunately the schlong exhibitionists are only displaying natural, instinctual adult-male behaviour.

Very nice article regarding naturism and how to keep a healthy attitude towards it.

I was just saying this to my girl the other day. We teach Nude Yoga and one of the guys that came to class sent me a message from a Social Media site and his only picture is of him Neck Down with Half Erection. I said to my girl, “I’m sorry, but if I’m putting a profile up, the last thing I want to stare at every time I sign on is my own Penis staring back at me.” LOL

  11. You’re 100% right. I guess it’s a matter of education, self awareness or only god knows what. Many of us can’t help the eventual erection, but owning a non-retractile penis doesn’t mean the pics we post on public sites can’t be, let’s say “tasteful” (althought is fully natural).
Male body can be beautiful in its own way, but whoever approaching nudism who sees pics of naked males with a hard on… well, they’ll get the wrong impression, won’t they?

  12. Roy Snell says:

Totally agree with you!! A man’s penis is very likely to appear in his photograph when he is naked but when it is the main focus the photo is no longer a natural naturist photo but rather an egotistical display of exhibitionism.

I don’t have anything to brag about between my legs, so a crotch-shot wouldn’t be doing me any favors. Mr. Happy did his job faithfully for many years, but age, health conditions and medications have robbed him of his youthful-vigor. Spontaneous-erections are a fond but distant memory, and sometimes he needs more than a little blue pill to get prodded into action. I am still all-man, but I don’t need a crotch-shot to prove it, and those who do need to reevaluate their masculinity.
